COVER MOM INTERVIEW
Amy De Winter: My biggest dream is to create my own reality show, where Ralphie would obviously be one of the main stars!
01. You call your dog your baby. What does being a “dog mom” mean to you, and how has your furry little one changed your life?
I welcomed Ralphie into my life during one of the darkest periods I’ve ever experienced. At that moment, I needed something to shift my focus, something that would bring light back into my world. And then came Ralphie. I can genuinely say that Ralphie didn’t just change my life, he saved it. He taught me the meaning of unconditional love, loyalty and happiness in the smallest moments. No matter how chaotic my life gets, he is my safe place. I will forever be grateful for him and the love he gives me every single day. He may be a little dog, but he has the biggest place in my heart.
02. If your dog could describe you as a mom in three words, what do you think they would be?
“Completely. Obsessed. Mommy.” (laughs) And honestly, he wouldn’t be wrong!
03. You’re building quite an impressive portfolio, from TV and modelling to entrepreneurship. What is the next big dream you want to make reality?
My biggest dream is to create my own reality show, where Ralphie would obviously be one of the main stars! I would love to give people a closer look into my world: from expanding Le Grand Copychat, with Ralphie as the face of the brand, to my everyday life as an entrepreneur, model and devoted dog mom. But beyond the glamour and business, I also want to use my platform to make a real difference for animals in need. Building an empire is exciting, but building something that has meaning is even more rewarding. And let’s be honest, Ralphie is already a star. He just needs his own camera crew! (laughs)
04. You’re part of The Real Housewives of Antwerpen. What can viewers expect from you this season, and is there a side of Amy they haven’t seen before?
This season, viewers will see a stronger, more confident Amy. Someone who stands by her own opinions, speaks up for herself and others, and puts honesty above everything else. I’ve grown from a girl who was once bullied and underestimated into a woman who knows her worth and isn’t afraid to stand on her own. I no longer feel the need to defend myself against every opinion. I’ve learned that sometimes the strongest thing you can do is simply stand your ground. I used to be the girl they tried to bring down. Today, I’m the woman who refuses to fall.
05. Reality television can bring glamour, friendship, but also drama. How do you stay true to yourself when the cameras are watching?
I’m a very genuine person, and if there’s one thing I’m allergic to, it’s lies and fake behavior. Whether the cameras are rolling or not, my values remain exactly the same. That’s why, throughout every season, you’ll see the same Amy. Of course I grow, learn and become stronger, but my principles don’t change depending on who’s sitting at the table. I believe honesty, loyalty and respect should never be negotiable. You can change your outfit for the cameras, but you shouldn’t change your character.
06. You’ve also created your own wine brand. What inspired you to enter the wine world, and what does your wine say about your personality?
It all started with a scene in the first season of The Real Housewives of Antwerp, where I was very outspoken about my particular taste in wine. After that episode, I received thousands of messages asking where people could buy my wine. There was just one little problem… I didn’t have a wine! (laughs) But that’s when my entrepreneurial mindset kicked in. As an entrepreneur, you need to recognize opportunities and dare to take them. Mine just happened to be sitting in a wine glass! I didn’t have the product yet, but I already had the audience. And that’s how Le Grand Copychat was born. The name is also a playful reference to turning negativity into positivity. Instead of allowing criticism to define me, I decided to turn it into something creative and successful. My wine reflects my personality perfectly: bold, full of character, unapologetic and definitely not sour!
07. Between filming, running businesses, modelling and creating content, how do you find time for the people and the dog who matter most to you?
My life is incredibly busy. I’m a true workaholic, and I genuinely love what I do. But Ralphie always comes first, right alongside my professional responsibilities. One of the biggest advantages of being self-employed is that I can take Ralphie with me almost everywhere. He’s basically my little business partner, travelling companion and emotional support system all in one. On my days off, I try to plan moments to recharge, whether that’s a relaxing day by myself, spending quality time with friends or simply cuddling with Ralphie on the sofa. My schedule might be crazy, but I wouldn’t trade this life for anything.
08. Looking five years ahead, where do you see yourself: more television, growing your businesses, expanding your wine brand, or perhaps something completely unexpected?
Why choose just one when you can dream of all of them? In five years, I hope to have expanded Le Grand Copychat internationally, developed several successful brands and taken my television career to another level. I’d love to create my own reality show and build a platform where entrepreneurship, entertainment, lifestyle and my love for animals come together. For me, success isn’t just about recognition or financial achievements. It’s about freedom, independence and creating something that truly belongs to you. I don’t just want to be the face of a brand. I want to be the woman behind the empire. And of course, Ralphie will still be the real boss! (laughs)
09. What is one project or ambition you’re currently working on that you can’t wait to reveal to your fans?
I’m constantly developing new ideas and exploring opportunities, especially when it comes to expanding my own brands. One of my biggest ambitions is to take Le Grand Copychat beyond wine and create an entire lifestyle around the brand. I’m also dreaming of projects that combine my passion for television, entrepreneurship and animals. I can’t reveal everything just yet, but one thing is certain: I’m not planning on slowing down anytime soon. People have seen me build my name. Now I want them to watch me build my legacy.
10. How was your experience with the team of Glam Mom Magazine? Tell us about your cover shoot day.
Being part of Glam Mom Magazine was such a lovely experience! From the moment I arrived, the team made me feel welcome, comfortable and confident. There was such a positive and creative atmosphere on set, which made the entire experience even more special. What I particularly love about this magazine is that it celebrates different forms of motherhood and the unconditional love we have for those who mean the world to us. For me, being a dog mom is a beautiful part of my identity, so having the opportunity to celebrate that through a cover shoot felt very personal. And of course, being able to share that experience with Ralphie made it even more memorable. It was a day filled with glamour, laughter and love – everything I adore!
From Venezuela to Antwerp: A Journey of Ambition, Resilience and Empowerment
Elite Clinics, Antwerp
Having explored various fields of medicine throughout her career, she ultimately found her true calling in aesthetic medicine. For her, the beauty of this profession lies in the ability to combine medical expertise with a personal, patient-centred approach. When she became a mother, she decided it was time to turn her vision into reality. She took a leap of faith and founded Elite Clinics in Antwerp, creating a space where patients could feel genuinely heard, understood and comfortable.
At Elite Clinics, advanced laser and light technologies are combined with a comprehensive range of aesthetic treatments, including injectables. Yet what truly defines her philosophy is the belief that beauty should never be approached with a one-size-fits-all solution. Every treatment begins with listening. By understanding each patient’s individual wishes and skin needs, she creates personalised treatment plans that prioritise skin quality, subtle enhancements and natural-looking results. For her, the greatest reward goes far beyond physical transformation. It is seeing patients walk out of the clinic feeling more confident, empowered and comfortable in their own skin.
A Passion for Growth and Excellence
Her entrepreneurial spirit is matched by an unwavering commitment to learning. Throughout the past year, she has travelled extensively to attend advanced training programmes and learn from leading experts in aesthetic medicine. She sees entrepreneurship not simply as running a business, but as an opportunity to continuously evolve, challenge herself and introduce the latest knowledge and technologies to her clinic. Equally important to her is supporting other women, particularly those pursuing their own entrepreneurial ambitions. Having experienced firsthand the courage, sacrifices and dedication required to build something from the ground up, she understands the challenges that come with chasing a dream.
Redefining What It Means to Be a Boss Lady
Building a life and career in a foreign country was no small achievement. Moving from Venezuela to Belgium meant adapting to a new culture, learning a different language and rebuilding her medical career. Those experiences shaped not only the woman she is today, but also the way she approaches life, business and the women around her. For her, being a boss lady is not about having everything figured out or doing everything alone. It is about having a vision, knowing when to accept support and finding the strength to keep moving forward, even when the journey becomes challenging. Her story is a reminder that resilience is not simply about overcoming obstacles, but about allowing those experiences to become a source of strength.
Balancing Motherhood and Ambition
Behind the entrepreneur is a devoted mother who considers family one of the most meaningful parts of her life. With the support of her fiancé and family, she continues to expand Elite Clinics, invest in her professional development and prepare for the arrival of her second baby, all while making a conscious effort to spend quality time with her daughter. Although balancing motherhood and entrepreneurship comes with its challenges, she embraces both roles as essential parts of her identity. Away from the clinic, it is the simple moments spent with loved ones that bring her the greatest happiness and fulfilment.
A Legacy of Strength and Possibility
Looking towards the future, her ambitions extend far beyond the continued success of Elite Clinics. As a mother, she hopes to pass on something even more valuable to her daughters: the belief that their roots are a source of strength, never a limitation. She wants them to grow up knowing that where they come from does not determine how far they can go, and that being a loving, present mother and an ambitious, successful woman are not mutually exclusive. Above all, she hopes her journey will inspire them to embrace their heritage, believe in their abilities and pursue their dreams without fear.
Her story is ultimately one of resilience, ambition and self-belief. From starting over in a new country to building a business around her passion, she embodies the idea that success is not defined by where your journey begins, but by the courage to create a life that truly reflects who you are.
I Still Have Dreams. So Many Dreams.
Dieuwertje Decrook: On losing everything you thought you knew, finding your way back to entrepreneurship, and discovering how motherhood can inspire an entirely new beginning.
Some dreams stay with us for a lifetime. Others are born when life takes us somewhere we never expected. If you had told my eighteen-year-old self that I would one day be running my parents’ bakery, raising a daughter as a single mother, and dreaming of bringing a little bread roll to life as a children’s character, I probably would have laughed. Yet here I am. An entrepreneur, a mother, and a woman whose mind is still filled with ideas. My journey hasn’t always been easy, but it has taught me that sometimes the most meaningful chapters begin when everything you planned falls apart.
The Dream I Thought I Had Lost
I was eighteen when I left home, determined to make something of my life. I wanted independence, adventure, and the freedom to build something of my own. My journey began in hospitality, where I eventually established my own business. The hours were long, the responsibilities enormous, but I loved the energy of entrepreneurship. Watching something grow through your own dedication is an incredible feeling. Then my relationship ended, and with it, I lost the business I had worked so hard to create. People sometimes underestimate what losing a business means. It isn’t simply losing a source of income. You lose something you’ve poured your time, identity, and dreams into. Suddenly, the future I had imagined no longer existed. I was devastated, and I made myself a promise: I would never become an entrepreneur again.
I started working at Colruyt, a Belgian supermarket retailer. The stability felt reassuring after everything I had experienced. For a while, I genuinely believed that chapter of my life was closed. But life had other plans.
My father was just 57 when he passed away. I was turning thirty that year. Losing him changed everything. He had always been an example of hard work, determination, and entrepreneurship. He was the person I could turn to for advice, reassurance, or simply an honest opinion. My parents had built Bakery Marc in Drongen, Belgium, together. It was their life’s work, and the place where I had grown up. We literally lived above the bakery. The smell of freshly baked bread, the early mornings, the machines, and the familiar faces of customers were all part of my childhood. And suddenly, my father was gone.
But the bakery was still there. Bread still needed to be baked, customers continued walking through the door, and the business couldn’t simply stop because our world had fallen apart. Together with my mother and brother, we decided to continue running it. We didn’t have a perfect plan. We were grieving, overwhelmed, and uncertain about what the future would bring. But the bakery represented everything my parents had built together. Keeping it alive felt like keeping a part of my father close. There was one rather ironic detail: growing up, I had always insisted I would never work in a bakery. I had watched my parents sacrifice sleep, weekends, and countless hours to keep their business running. I admired their dedication, but I wanted a different life. And yet, there I was, becoming part of the very world I had once promised myself I would avoid.
Finding My Own Place in My Father’s Legacy
Initially, I handled the administration while continuing my job at Colruyt. My brother worked in the bakery’s production area, while my mother managed the shop. As finding reliable employees became more difficult, I gradually became more involved in daily operations. I quickly discovered that growing up in a bakery and actually running one were two very different things. There was so much to learn. Managing people, making decisions, solving unexpected problems, and taking responsibility for a business that meant so much to our family. At first, I did it because I loved my family and wanted to preserve what my father had created. But something unexpected happened. I started enjoying entrepreneurship again. I began seeing opportunities rather than only responsibilities. I wanted to improve the business, strengthen our team, and create something that could continue growing without losing the personal character that made Bakery Marc special. The entrepreneurial spirit I thought I had lost was still there. Only this time, I approached things differently. I understood that a business isn’t just about personal success. It’s also about creating opportunities for others, helping employees develop, and building something people feel proud to be part of. Of course, there were moments when I doubted myself. I often wished I could sit down with my father one more time. Ask him what he would do. Whether he agreed with my decisions. Whether he thought I was doing a good job. Those conversations are what I miss most. I had to learn that I couldn’t lead the bakery exactly as he had. I needed to find my own way, make my own mistakes, and trust the people around me. My mother, my brother, and our team have been an enormous part of that journey. Perhaps my father would have done certain things differently. Perhaps some of my ideas would have surprised him. But I hope he would be proud to see that his life’s work continues, not simply as something we inherited, but as something we are building together.
When Entrepreneurship Meets Motherhood
After completing the bakery’s renovation, I felt we had overcome one of our biggest challenges. Then I became pregnant with Emma-Rose. Becoming a mother changed my perspective in ways I could never have imagined. The moment I held my daughter for the first time, I experienced a kind of love that made everything else seem different. But motherhood also brought challenges I hadn’t anticipated. Around three weeks after giving birth, I was already back at work. I had a newborn baby who needed me, a business that couldn’t simply pause, employees who depended on us, and customers who expected the same quality and service. Somewhere between all those responsibilities, I was trying to figure out how to be a mother. There were days when I was completely exhausted. Days when I wondered how other women managed to combine everything. Moments when I wanted nothing more than a few hours without having to make decisions or be responsible for anyone. And sometimes people would say, “But you chose this life, didn’t you?” Yes, I chose motherhood. And yes, I chose entrepreneurship. But choosing something doesn’t mean every part of it has to be easy. Why do we expect women to be ambitious, nurturing, successful, organized, and endlessly capable, while making it all look effortless? I love my daughter more than anything. I also love my work. Those two feelings don’t contradict each other. What I’ve learned is that being a good mother doesn’t mean giving up your ambitions, and being a successful entrepreneur doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice every moment with your child. The challenge is finding a way for both to exist. As a single mother, I have had to reconsider something that once felt completely natural to me: taking responsibility for everything. For most of my life, when something needed to be done, I simply did it. I rarely stopped to consider whether I should ask for help. Emma-Rose has changed that. She has taught me how precious time is. How an ordinary afternoon together can mean more than another completed task. How quickly childhood passes, and how certain moments will never return. I’m fortunate to have family members I can rely on and a team that shares responsibility for the bakery. Learning to accept their support hasn’t always been easy. But I now understand that asking for help isn’t a weakness. It allows me to be a more present mother, a better entrepreneur, and, perhaps most importantly, a happier woman. I want Emma-Rose to grow up seeing a mother who works hard and pursues her dreams, but who also knows when to slow down, laugh, and enjoy life. And I want her to understand that she never has to be perfect to build a life she loves.
How a Little Bread Roll Became a Big Dream
One of the most unexpected things motherhood has brought into my life is a renewed love for storytelling. When I was little, my father used to invent stories about Spiedewiele, an imaginary gnome who became a beloved part of my childhood. Those memories stayed with me. When Emma-Rose was born, I began creating stories for her too. One day, we started talking about her favorite little bread roll from the bakery. A Babs. What if that little bread roll could come to life? What if he had a face, a personality, and adventures of his own? And just like that, Babs was born.
There was no elaborate business plan or carefully developed marketing strategy. It began as a playful idea between a mother and her daughter. We invented stories, imagined adventures, and gradually gave Babs his own little world. Then something wonderful happened. Other children started becoming interested too. There were drawings, stories, and temporary tattoos. Children began recognizing Babs and imagining adventures of their own. Watching that happen was incredibly special. Because Babs represents so much more to me than a cute character. He connects three generations of our family. My father’s love of storytelling, the bakery my parents built, and the imagination I now share with my daughter. Something that began as a small moment between Emma-Rose and me has become one of my biggest dreams.
Today, I dream of developing Babs into a recognizable children’s brand, with his own stories, products, and adventures. I would love for children to see him as a familiar little friend, someone who brings happiness and imagination into their everyday lives. And eventually, I hope to introduce Babs to other independent artisan bakeries. I believe strongly in the traditional neighborhood bakery. Those places where people still know one another, where children eagerly choose something from the counter, and where families bring fresh bread rolls home for Sunday breakfast. These small traditions create memories, and I would love for Babs to become part of them.
Of course, I know there is still a long road ahead. Developing a brand requires dedication, the right collaborations, and plenty of decisions. But I’m excited about that journey. For the bakery itself, our vision is different. We have consciously chosen to focus on one strong location rather than opening multiple shops. Quality, craftsmanship, personal service, and a committed team matter more to us than expansion for its own sake. I want Bakery Marc to remain a place where employees feel valued, customers feel welcome, and our family’s history continues to have meaning. At the same time, I want to build a business that doesn’t depend on one person carrying every responsibility. Because I also want time for Emma-Rose, for Babs, for new ideas, and for myself.
I Still Have Dreams. So Many Dreams.
When I was eighteen, success meant independence, achievement, and proving that I could build something on my own. Today, I see it differently. Success can be watching an employee grow in confidence. Seeing a familiar customer return with a smile. Hearing my daughter laugh. Or watching a character we invented together slowly become something real. It can also mean coming home after a busy day and feeling that I have done enough. That last part is something I’m still learning.
For years, I focused on what needed to happen next. The next challenge, the next improvement, the next goal. Now, I am learning to appreciate what we have already achieved. I am proud of the bakery we have continued building. Proud of the family and team who have helped make that possible. And proud of the mother I am becoming, even on the days when I don’t get everything right. Life has taught me that strength isn’t about never falling apart. Sometimes it’s about accepting that things are difficult, allowing people to support you, and finding the courage to begin again.
Sometimes I wonder what Emma-Rose will remember about her childhood. Perhaps it will be the smell of fresh bread when she walks into the bakery. Perhaps the stories of Babs, the little character we created together. Or perhaps she will remember how busy her mother sometimes was. But I hope she will also remember our laughter, our little adventures, and the moments when we simply enjoyed being together. More than anything, I want her to know that she is allowed to dream. That she can be ambitious and loving. Strong and vulnerable. Independent and willing to ask for help. I want her to understand that life doesn’t always follow the path we imagine, and that beginning again doesn’t mean everything that came before was wasted.
When I look back, I see a young woman who lost a business and thought she would never find the courage to start again. I see a daughter who lost her father and unexpectedly found herself continuing his life’s work. I see a mother discovering that her child can inspire dreams she never knew she had. And sometimes, I still wish I could call my father one more time. I would tell him about Emma-Rose. About the bakery. About Babs. About all the things we have accomplished and everything I still hope to do. I would thank him for the lessons he taught me, including the ones I only truly understood after he was gone.
My story is far from finished. There are ideas waiting to be explored, opportunities I haven’t discovered, and adventures I cannot yet imagine. I still have dreams. So many dreams. But this time, I know I don’t have to carry them all on my own to make them come true.
Antwerp Roses: From One Bouquet Filled With Love to a Blooming Business
"Sometimes, the most beautiful dreams begin when you least expect them."
The story of Antwerp Roses began in September 2024, during one of the most beautiful periods of my life. I had just become a mother for the first time, welcoming our baby boy into the world. What I didn’t know at the time was that, alongside motherhood, an entirely new adventure was waiting for me. Shortly after giving birth, my mother-in-law traveled with my husband’s family to perform Umrah. Because my mother-in-law means so much to me, I wanted to surprise her with something special when she returned. I thought of flowers, but not just an ordinary bouquet. I wanted something personal, something unique. While searching for inspiration, I came across beautiful pink rose bouquets in London, decorated with personalized ribbons. I immediately fell in love with the concept, but I couldn’t find anything similar in Belgium. Eventually, I found someone in the Netherlands, a full two-and-a-half-hour drive away. Together with my best friend and my little boy, who was barely one month old at the time, I drove all the way to the Netherlands. All for that one special bouquet. On our way home, I turned to my friend and said, “If I’m willing to drive this far for a bouquet, surely there must be other people looking for something like this too?” When I gave the bouquet to my mother-in-law, everyone was incredibly enthusiastic. Even at the airport, people had been asking where it came from. That was the moment when a small idea slowly began turning into a dream.
From Fifty Roses to Thousands
I started doing my research. Originality has always been incredibly important to me, and I wanted to make sure I could offer something truly special. My very first creation was made with red roses from a simple bouquet I had received as a gift, which I believe had even come from a gas station. I experimented, searched for suppliers, and tried to figure out how to personalize the ribbons myself. It certainly wasn’t easy, but giving up was never an option. One day, I walked into a store and explained the challenges I was facing. The man behind the counter asked me, “Do you really want to give this a try?” When I said yes, he gave me the contact information for several suppliers. Not long afterward, I drove to the Netherlands again, this time to pick up my first fifty roses. The supplier who believed in me back then is still my supplier to this day. And that was how Antwerp Roses was born. What started with fifty roses grew to a thousand, then two thousand, and we continue to grow. I initially started the business alongside my regular job, but eventually found the courage to take the leap and turn it into my full-time career. It’s something I’m incredibly proud of today.A Mother, an Entrepreneur, and Above All, Grateful
Building a business while adjusting to life as a new mother isn’t always easy. There are long days, short nights, and countless responsibilities. But I believe that we women are true multitaskers, often capable of much more than we realize. Still, I would never be where I am today without the people around me. My husband has believed in me from the very beginning and continues to support me unconditionally. My mother and my in-laws have also helped us tremendously, including caring for our little boy so I could have the time and space to grow my business. And my father deserves a special mention. When I first started, I didn’t have a big budget at all. Fortunately, my dad is incredibly handy and resourceful. He helped me with so many practical things and made it possible to accomplish things I simply couldn’t have managed on my own at the time. My sister, my brother, and my closest friends have also supported me throughout this journey. One of those friends was sitting right beside me during that very first drive to the Netherlands, neither of us realizing that we were witnessing the beginning of Antwerp Roses. Their love, trust, and support mean the world to me. Because although Antwerp Roses is my dream, so many people have played a part in making that dream a reality.
A Dream That Has Only Just Begun
When I think back to that first drive to the Netherlands with my best friend and my newborn son, I can’t help but smile. I drove two and a half hours for a single bouquet, never imagining that one decision would change my life. I didn’t have a big budget, any experience in the floral industry, or a perfectly mapped-out business plan. All I had was an idea I believed in and the courage to give it a try.
Today, I’m incredibly proud of how far Antwerp Roses has come, but more than anything, I feel grateful for everyone who has been part of this journey. What began as a loving gesture for my mother-in-law grew into my very own business. And no matter how big Antwerp Roses may become, the love that started it all will always remain its foundation.
Ambition Gives Me Direction, Love Gives My Life Meaning.
Myriam Melghamri
My parents’ courage became my foundation
My story begins in a large, loving family of nine children, where I grew up with six brothers and two sisters, surrounded by different personalities, opinions and dreams. My parents laid the foundations for that home when, at the age of sixteen, they left their country of origin, their family and everything familiar behind, hoping to give their children greater opportunities. As I take on more responsibility myself over the years, I am reminded of just how much courage and sacrifice it took for them to start again so young. They had to build a future in a place where their own familiar world was far beyond reach. Today, a familiar voice is often only a phone call away. For my parents, months could pass without being able to speak to their family. That thought moves me particularly when I think of my mother: what must it have been like to long for your own mother’s presence while being a source of comfort and security for your children? She gave us love, support and a warm home, far from the people she herself could turn to. My admiration for her grows when I reflect on what we may never have noticed as children: her longing, her worries and the strength it took to give us a carefree childhood.
What I achieve today therefore means more to me than personal success. Behind the opportunities I have been given lie my parents’ courage, efforts and sacrifices. They laid foundations I could build on: the freedom to study, develop my talents and choose my own direction. As I shape my life, I understand more deeply how precious that freedom is and how much their dedication has made possible. That awareness gives my ambition a deeply personal dimension. I want to make thoughtful use of my opportunities and build something I wholeheartedly believe in. My parents gave me the freedom to follow my own path; as I do so, I carry their perseverance and values with me. It moves me to know that I can now help shape a future that began with their courage to start again.
Where academic ambition meets social commitment
I earned both my bachelor’s degree in Youth Criminology and my master’s degree in Gender & Diversity at Ghent University with great distinction. These academic achievements give me a deep sense of satisfaction because they reflect my intellectual curiosity, a critical approach to research and the discipline to substantiate my ideas carefully. Alongside my studies, I volunteered for several years with an organisation tackling poverty. That social commitment, together with my academic education, has profoundly shaped me. My studies gave me a framework for analysing inequality and social structures; volunteering brought me closer to the personal stories and everyday realities behind them. That interplay taught me to combine analytical rigour with an understanding of people. I learned to place individual stories in a broader context without losing sight of what makes each one unique. In my business, this approach helps me make well-founded decisions while remaining mindful of what they mean for others. To me, leadership therefore requires a clear vision, the responsibility to provide direction and the intellectual openness to test my own judgement against other perspectives and constructive feedback.
From a personal vision to three melghamri locations
With Melghamri, I brought my passion for beauty and my vision of entrepreneurship to life. In less than four years, my business grew to three locations in Antwerp, Brussels and Liège. We offer laser hair removal using the Candela GentleMax Pro and GentleMax Pro Plus, skin treatments, teeth whitening and cosmetic treatments performed by certified medical doctors. We use high-quality equipment and carefully selected products as part of our commitment to quality and personalised care. This growth makes me proud and brings with it the responsibility to maintain the same high standards of care and quality across every location. That care begins with understanding the person in front of us. Our clientele is diverse, with a wide range of backgrounds, expectations and needs. That is why we take the time to listen, answer questions and provide expert advice tailored to each client’s wishes and circumstances. I want every client to feel heard and confident in the choices they make. This is how we lay the foundations for lasting relationships built on trust. As Melghamri grows, I am also challenged to develop further as a business owner. Decisions have wider implications and require an ongoing understanding of both day-to-day operations and the future of the business. I am learning to distinguish more clearly between what matters most and what is secondary, weigh financial and organisational considerations, and use my time more deliberately. That continual development is what makes entrepreneurship so engaging for me: each new phase calls for insight, adaptability and the courage to make considered choices.
My own business and a name that connects
My business carries my name, and with it part of my family history. Seeing that name on the façade gives what I am building a special meaning. In something that so clearly reflects my own path, my roots remain visible too. Attaching my name to my business also brings a personal responsibility. I want the quality of our work, the way we guide our clients and the decisions I make as a business owner to reflect principles I can stand behind. In this way, that name takes on meaning every day through what we do and the trust people place in us. My family is close behind the scenes too. My eldest brother, Mohamed, has been a sounding board since the very beginning, drawing on his experience as a business consultant. He helps me examine issues from different angles and weigh my ideas carefully. His advice is valuable, but just as important is the confidence I have in turning to him when a decision weighs heavily on me. With him, I can voice my doubts and think aloud, even when I am still searching for an answer. I am building my own future with the support of people who knew me long before there was a business. They also know the journey that led here, and the effort and uncertainty involved in building something of my own. That makes their involvement so precious: I can share my progress with them, knowing there is also room for the moments when things do not come so easily.
Appearance draws attention, substance holds it
I enjoy taking care of my appearance and dressing well. I devote that same attention to my intellectual development: I want to broaden my knowledge, sharpen my ideas and keep challenging myself. I believe pretty privilege exists: an attractive appearance can make you more visible and open up opportunities. At the same time, it can come with assumptions that leave little room for your other qualities. I believe expertise, intellect, judgement and dedication deserve recognition too. That curiosity also finds expression beyond my business. As a host at Radio Stad, I explore the inspiring stories and experiences that have shaped people through Nature & Nurture. Through that partnership, Radio Stad, my media partner, also helped formulate the questions for this article. I bring that same engagement to my role as a judge for Miss Belgium. I have the opportunity to get to know the candidates through their personalities, ambitions and convictions. I pay attention to how they express their ideas, the social issues they care about and how they hope to use the public platform that comes with such a title. To me, that role calls for careful listening and giving each candidate the space to tell her own story.
From two kittens to 13 feline grandchildren
My love of animals goes back to my earliest childhood. As a child, I sought out every animal that crossed my path. My brother knew how fascinated I was and surprised me with two kittens when I was four, a moment that has stayed with me ever since. It was Sinterklaas, the Saint Nicholas celebration, and although we did not celebrate it at home, he had arranged balloons, presents and a large box with air holes beneath the chimney. Inside were two little kittens. I can still picture the scene vividly. My older brothers and sister loved to spoil me; I was their little princess. Yet this particular surprise holds a special place in my memory. My brother had chosen something that was so perfectly me. Even then, he understood how much animals meant to me. Those two kittens were the beginning of a feline family that kept growing over the years. Today, alongside twelve grandchildren, my mother also has thirteen ‘feline grandchildren’, five of whom live with me. What began as an unforgettable surprise became an enduring part of our family life.Five cats, one home
When I left my parents’ home, I missed the familiar companionship of a cat. With the arrival of Loco, my British Longhair, my own home regained that sense of familiarity. Coco, my British Shorthair, soon joined us so they could keep each other company while I worked. For three years, they were my constant companions as I built my business. Then Poco, my Ragdoll, found a home with me because his previous owner could no longer care for him due to her circumstances. Three months later came Roco, my Scottish Fold, and Choco, my Siamese. Within a single month, they had been given up by two different owners. It saddened me that they had lost familiar surroundings repeatedly in such a short time. I wanted to offer them the stability of a permanent home. Having five cats was never a carefully laid plan. With the last two, my decision was impulsive and came straight from the heart. At the same time, their arrival brought a lasting responsibility. I welcomed them lovingly into my family, with everything that entails. What unconditional maternal love means in my life
When I call myself a cat mom, I am expressing a deep bond and a responsibility I carry with love. My cats depend on me for their wellbeing, and I want to honour that trust with care, protection and a home where they feel safe. For me, the comparison with unconditional maternal love lies in that constant care: the desire to protect, notice changes and respond to five different personalities. Even during a busy working day, that concern remains. Their wellbeing is part of my daily thoughts and decisions, even when my business demands a great deal of attention. Loco, Coco, Poco, Roco and Choco are my children and make up my own family. Through our daily life together, I know their habits, their sensitivities and the different ways they seek closeness. A unique bond has developed with each of them. I cannot choose a favourite: my love takes a different form with each one, but it is equally strong.Between work and cuddles
After a day’s work, I am greeted at the front door by five cats who clearly feel it is their turn for some attention. And honestly, I look forward to seeing them just as much. Even when my thoughts are still on work, a smile appears on my face the moment I see them. Their presence brings calm to a life in which so much demands my attention. After a day of conversations, deliberations and decisions, it does me good to immerse myself in their company. I often continue working at home, although my plans regularly expand to include cuddle breaks. With five cats around me, there is always someone seeking a little contact. Those small rituals give my evenings a familiar rhythm. I sometimes call them my therapy because I know how much love, joy and comfort they give me. They help me unwind after a busy day and bring plenty of cheerful moments. A cat settling beside me or seeking my attention of their own accord can move me deeply. As I care for them, I also feel how much their closeness gives me. There is plenty to laugh about at home too. Their names are particularly practical: when I call ‘OCO’, they all respond. The distribution of my attention can be more contentious. Loco in particular, who was there first, seems convinced that seniority comes with certain privileges. Even at home, my leadership is regularly put to the test.Building the future, cherishing the present
I want to keep growing, as an entrepreneur and as a person, and discover how far I can take my ideas. My curiosity drives me to explore new possibilities; my ambition drives me to turn them into something of lasting value. What gives me the greatest satisfaction is progress that opens up possibilities for others too: a stronger business in which people can develop their own talents and ambitions. That drive is intertwined with my family history. I know how much my parents invested in a future in which we could make our own choices. I carry their trust and sacrifices with me in everything I undertake. At the same time, their health and that of my family remain my greatest wish. However much I want to achieve, being together and knowing they are well will always be priceless to me. That is why I also want to be fully present in the life I am building. To give attention to my work, make time for the people I love and leave room for the daily rituals with my five cats. I have big plans for the future, and along the way I want to keep appreciating how much there already is to love today.- www.melghamri.com

Knowing what a project truly costs gives you confidence in your quotes and helps guide your profitability. With effective follow-up, the time and expertise you invest in preparing each quote have every opportunity to turn into a confirmed project. Once approved, purchasing, planning, and execution can move forward seamlessly.
Calculation Compass brings all these elements together within your construction business.
Implementing an ERP system involves more than simply installing software. Its true value emerges when the system aligns with your people and everyday operations. Accurate cost estimation forms an essential foundation, ensuring that materials, labor hours, subcontracting, overhead costs, and profit margins are thoughtfully integrated into the system. This allows you to prepare quotes based on clear financial data and manage your projects with greater precision.
With years of experience in construction cost estimation, Fen Roelants guides you through this transformation. Whether you’re transitioning from Excel or further optimizing your existing ERP system, we work together to connect estimating, quoting, purchasing, planning, project execution, and invoicing into one streamlined workflow.
Building on this foundation, we introduce targeted automation tailored to your business processes. Every quote receives the appropriate follow-up: a timely reminder, an opportunity to address questions, and valuable insight into your customer’s decision. Once a quote is approved, the next steps are ready to move forward, from confirmation and purchasing to scheduling and execution. Customer communication and after-sales support also become an integral part of the process.
The result? Greater value from your quoting efforts, less time spent on administration, and more room to focus on your customers, projects, and business growth.
Would you like to discover how cost estimation, ERP, and automation can strengthen your business? Calculation Compass would be happy to explore the possibilities with you.
“I Don’t Want to Be a Perfect Mom. I Want to Be a Mom Who Is Truly Present.”
Emma Gevorgian
There are many words I could use to describe myself: mother, entrepreneur, educator, therapist, author. But if I had to choose just one, I would choose real. I’m a mom to a sixteen-year-old son and a nine-year-old daughter. I run my own practice, Groei & Bloei, and I wrote Afgewezen, a deeply personal book about my childhood, identity, hidden family secrets, and the lasting impact emotional neglect can have on a child. But beyond the roles, the titles, and everything I have built, I am a woman who believes deeply in connection. We live in a world where creating a beautiful picture of our lives has never been easier. Scroll through social media and you’ll find happy families, successful women, immaculate homes, and mothers who somehow appear to balance careers, relationships, children, friendships, and self-care without ever dropping a ball.
I am ambitious, too. I love creating, learning, growing, and challenging myself. But I have never believed in chasing the perfect picture. Because behind every image is a human being. A woman who can feel strong and still have moments of doubt. Someone who can be proud of her success while sometimes longing for nothing more than a little peace and quiet. A mother who wants to give her children everything, yet occasionally realizes she has lost a little of herself somewhere along the way. And perhaps that is one of the most liberating things we can accept about life: we do not have to be perfect to be valuable.
Motherhood and Ambition Can Coexist
For me, motherhood is unconditional love. It is also demanding, unpredictable, exhausting, beautiful, and constantly evolving. I combine family life with my work, my ambitions, and all the responsibilities that come with them. My husband runs a busy construction company, so neither of us has a particularly quiet life. What makes it work is that we have never viewed one another as competitors. We are partners. We are a team.
At the weekend, we consciously sit down and look at the week ahead. Who has which appointments? What is happening with the children? Which work commitments are coming up? What needs to be taken care of at home? It may not sound particularly romantic, but that kind of open communication gives us an enormous sense of calm. Instead of constantly reacting to life, we try to navigate it together. My husband is incredibly supportive of what I do. He thinks things through with me, takes responsibility, and gives me the space to pursue my own dreams. That support means more to me than I can put into words. It is also one of the reasons I feel so strongly that women should not have to choose between ambition and motherhood. You are allowed to have dreams. You are allowed to want success. You are allowed to build something meaningful and create a life that excites you. And at the same time, you are allowed to be the mom who sometimes wants nothing more than to sit on the couch with her children and let the rest of the world wait. One does not have to cancel out the other.
The Search for Myself
My fascination with people and human behavior has always been part of me. I wanted to understand why people do the things they do. Why certain patterns repeat themselves from one generation to another. Why some children grow into adults who spend their lives searching for validation, safety, or approval. My education and professional experience have taught me a great deal about these questions. But my own life may have taught me even more. As an adult, I discovered that the story of my life was not the story I had always believed it to be. I learned that I had been adopted. It was a truth that had been kept from me for years. That discovery changed something fundamental. Suddenly, I had questions about where I came from and what that meant for my identity. But it also made me look at my childhood differently, at my parents, my upbringing, the things that had been said, and perhaps even more importantly, the things that had never been spoken about. I began asking myself difficult questions. What happens to a child when certain truths about their own life are kept from them? What happens when there is no space for their feelings? What happens when love and control become intertwined? Those questions would eventually become part of the foundation for my book, Afgewezen. Why I Had to Write Afgewezen
Afgewezen is my personal story, but I never wanted it to be only about me. I write about what can happen when a child does not truly feel seen, heard, or understood. I explore emotional neglect, destructive patterns, and the emotional baggage we can unknowingly carry with us long after childhood has ended. I write about adoption. About identity. About the consequences of hidden truths. But beneath all of those themes lies something even more universal: parenthood.
A child needs more than food, clothes, a home, and practical care. Children need recognition. Safety. Emotional presence. They need to know there is room for their feelings, their questions, their mistakes, and their individuality. They need to feel that they are allowed to be exactly who they are. Becoming a mother made that realization even more powerful for me. Because motherhood has a way of making you revisit your own childhood through a completely different lens. You begin to think not only about what you received, but also about what you missed. And eventually, you arrive at one of the most important questions a parent can ask: What do I want to pass on to my children, and what do I want to stop with me?
I Am Not a Perfect Mom
My past did not turn me into a perfect mother. I don’t believe such a mother exists. I make mistakes. I get tired. There are moments when I react in ways I later wish I hadn’t. Sometimes I have to consciously remind myself to stop what I am doing, put everything else aside, and truly listen. The difference, for me, lies in being willing to notice. I want my children to know that their emotions are welcome. That they can ask difficult questions. That making mistakes does not make them less worthy. That they never have to become perfect in order to deserve love. To me, that is what emotional responsibility in parenthood looks like. It does not mean never getting things wrong. It means being willing to look at yourself when you do.
To face your own pain. To recognize the patterns you inherited. To question the things you once accepted as normal. And eventually, to be able to say: This is what I was given. But I do not have to pass it on.
I Want My Children to Dream Big
There is something else I desperately want my children to carry with them through life: the courage to dream bigger than what feels safe. I never want them to make themselves smaller because they believe something is not meant for them. I can’t do that. I’m not good enough. That kind of life isn’t for someone like me.
The stories we tell ourselves can become some of our greatest limitations. If we repeat them often enough, we can begin treating them as facts. I want my children to know that life does not have to follow one predetermined path. They are allowed to change direction. They are allowed to start again. They are allowed to try something wholeheartedly and later discover that it was not right for them after all. A diploma does not define you. A career does not define you. Someone else’s opinion certainly does not define you. You are allowed to grow. You are allowed to fall. You are allowed to begin again. And, most importantly, you are allowed to write your own story.
What Will My Children Remember About Me?
I think about this sometimes. Not about everything I might achieve. Not about how hard I have worked, how many books I may write, or which professional titles appear beside my name. I wonder about something much simpler. What will my children remember? I hope they remember my warmth. I hope they remember that I listened. I hope they always knew they could come to me, even when the conversation was difficult. I hope they remember seeing a mother who had dreams of her own, and who was brave enough to pursue them. But more than anything, I hope that one day they will be able to say: “Mom was real.” Not perfect. But present.Building a Life That Feels Like Mine
I still have ambitions. I want to continue building businesses. I want to learn, grow, develop myself, travel, and create new things. But I also want to make time for my family. For laughter around the table. For books. For spontaneous moments. For conversations that do not need to lead anywhere. For ordinary afternoons that seem insignificant while they are happening but may one day become some of our most precious memories. I don’t need a perfect life. I want a life that feels right to me. A life where ambition, motherhood, family, and travel can exist alongside one another. Where vulnerability is not treated as weakness. Where I do not have to deny my past, but where I also refuse to allow that past to dictate my present or my future.
Perhaps that is what Afgewezen ultimately represents to me. It is not simply the story of what happened to me. It is the story of what I chose to do with what happened to me. It is about the patterns I learned to recognize. The questions I finally allowed myself to ask. The choices I have made, and continue to make every day. And it is about the mother I want to be. Not perfect. Not without mistakes. But real. Because perhaps one of the greatest gifts we can give our children is not the illusion of a flawless example, but something far more meaningful: a parent who dares to be themselves. A parent who takes responsibility, continues to grow, and gives their children the freedom to eventually become completely and unapologetically themselves. And perhaps breaking generational patterns does not always begin with a dramatic decision. Sometimes, it begins with one simple question: What do I want to pass on, and what can stop with me?
For anyone who recognizes something of themselves in that question, Afgewezen offers an invitation to look more closely at the patterns we carry, where they came from, and which ones we may finally be ready to leave behind.
Jewellery That Changes With You
One Element. Multiple Ways To Wear.
The name Soliterra represents the connection between the self and the earth. “Sol” stands for the self, while “Terra” represents the earth and the natural world around us.
Soliterra was created from the desire to design jewelry that feels special yet effortless to wear. As we constantly change emotionally, socially and mentally, our jewelers can evolve with us. Through modular and transformable designs, each piece can be worn in different ways — as an earring, bracelet or necklace. In this way, jewelry becomes a personal extension of the wearer, adapting to different moments and expressions.
At Soliterra, every jewel is an exclusive creation, carefully handcrafted in Belgium. We use high-quality materials (natural gemstones and precious materials) and pay close attention to every detail, from selecting the stones to the final finishing touches.
“You Don’t Have to Choose Between Motherhood and Your Dreams”
Carolyn Collinda
My name is Carolyn Collinda, I’m 34 years old, and I grew up in Amsterdam. I currently live in Antwerp, Belgium. I have Indonesian and Surinamese roots, so I was fortunate to grow up with a beautiful mix of cultures through my family.
In my everyday life, I’m a fashion entrepreneur with more than ten years of experience in the fashion industry. I own an eyewear store in the heart of Antwerp, and I also organize fashion events. I’m regularly invited to serve as a judge at modeling competitions, award ceremonies, and fashion shows. Fashion has always played a major role in my life, and it’s something that gives me an incredible amount of energy.
The Experiences That Shaped Me
One of the most important experiences that shaped me into the woman I am today was moving out on my own when I was seventeen. That experience forced me to grow up quickly and become independent at a very young age. I also started working full-time, but at the same time, continuing my personal development was extremely important to me. I was determined to finish my education, and I eventually graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. When I bought my first home at the age of 23, it was a moment that made me incredibly proud of myself. It gave me so much confidence because I realized just how much you can achieve as a woman when you truly set your mind to something. Becoming an entrepreneur had always been one of my biggest dreams. At some point, I thought to myself, you know what, I’m just going to give it a try. That’s when I launched my first online fashion boutique. From there, things continued to grow. Over the years, I’ve owned several businesses in the hospitality and fashion industries, including my own clothing boutique. Eventually, I opened my eyewear store and started organizing fashion shows and events. Looking back, I believe all those experiences have shaped me into the woman I am today: independent, ambitious, and someone who doesn’t give up easily.
An Unexpected Pregnancy
I think what makes my pregnancy particularly special is that I’m becoming a mother at 34 while still being fully involved in my entrepreneurial journey. I’m not someone who has lived a very traditional life and will suddenly spend all her time at home. My work and businesses are a huge part of who I am. My pregnancy was also completely unplanned. It came as a total surprise. Of course, in the beginning, it took some time to adjust to the idea, but eventually, it started to feel as though everything had happened exactly the way it was meant to.A Gift From God
Having a child truly feels like a gift from God. Becoming a mother has always been one of my biggest dreams. That’s also why we chose the name Keyana Elisa for our daughter. To us, her name represents God’s Gift and God’s Promise, which holds a very special meaning for our family. From the moment I found out I was pregnant, my entire world changed. Suddenly, you’re no longer thinking only about yourself. You start thinking about your family, your child, and the future you’re going to build together. I’ve also noticed how much this experience has changed me as a person. I’ve become softer, more patient, and perhaps even more loving. There’s a whole new kind of love that enters your life, one that you can only truly understand once you experience it yourself.
The Mother I Hope to Become
More than anything, I want to be a fun and cool mom! (Laughs.) I want to do exciting things with my daughter and create beautiful memories together.
But I also think it’s incredibly important that she finds her own path in life. I want to encourage her to discover her passions and follow her dreams, just as I’ve always done myself. I want her to know that, as a woman, she can achieve anything she sets her mind to, as long as she believes in herself and has the courage to go after it. The values and life lessons I want to pass on to my daughter are also very important to me. For me, politeness, kindness, and respect are essential. I want to teach her to always be good to the people around her and to treat others the way she would want to be treated. Above all, I want her to believe in herself. I want her to know that she is allowed to have her own dreams and that she should never feel that something is beyond her reach.
Finding a Balance Between Motherhood and Entrepreneurship
Once my daughter is born, I would really love to find a beautiful balance between entrepreneurship and motherhood. Spending quality time with my family and my daughter will always be my number one priority, but at the same time, my work and businesses are also very important to me. I actually believe those two worlds can go hand in hand beautifully. I don’t have to choose between being a good mother and being an entrepreneur. Instead, I want to show my daughter that you can embrace different roles in life and that, as a woman, you can continue pursuing your own dreams and ambitions.
The Importance of Family and Traditions
My mother is definitely one of my biggest role models. She gives so much love and attention and has always taken wonderful care of me and my sisters. She has always made us feel how important family truly is. Food and spending time together have also always been a big part of our family life. Cooking and enjoying delicious meals together are really at the heart of our family traditions. Those are the little things from my childhood that I would love to pass on to my own daughter someday. I think there’s something beautiful about keeping certain family traditions alive.
Making Time for What Truly Matters
One thing I know for certain is that I never want my daughter to feel that her mom doesn’t have time for her. Of course, I’ll be busy with my work and businesses, but I want to consciously make time for her. Quality time is incredibly important to me. It doesn’t always have to involve something big or special. Sometimes, simply having dinner together, watching a movie, or spending a day out together can be more than enough. More than anything, I want her to look back on her childhood one day and think, my mom was always there for me.
Embracing Motherhood With Confidence
As a mother-to-be, I’m actually not particularly afraid of what’s coming. Of course, everything is new, and I don’t know exactly how things will turn out, but I’m trying to take everything as it comes. Fortunately, I have a wonderful family around me, and I know I can always count on them. That gives me a great sense of peace and confidence. I also believe that motherhood is something you learn along the way. Nobody knows exactly how to do everything beforehand, so I mainly want to enjoy the moment and give myself the space to grow into my new role. You Don’t Have to Choose Between Your Family and Your Dreams
If there’s one message I would love to share with other women, especially those who recognize themselves in my story, it’s that entrepreneurship and motherhood really can go hand in hand. You don’t have to choose between your family and your dreams. For me, pregnancy has been an incredibly beautiful experience. It has not only created a very special bond between me and my daughter, but it has also changed me in such a positive way as a person. I’ve started looking at life differently and gained a new perspective on what truly matters. And ultimately, being given the opportunity to become a mother is simply an incredible gift.- Photography by: Ruud de Jong

Where a Love for Dogs Blossoms into a Luxurious Grooming Experience
Groomyy Antwerp
An entrepreneurial dream that grew into a unique concept
From a young age, I knew one thing for certain: one day, I would start my own business. Driven by creativity, an eye for aesthetics, and a deep love for dogs, I took my first steps as an entrepreneur by designing and selling luxury interior accessories for dogs (under the brand *By Fawpaw*). From stylish dog beds to meticulously handcrafted food and water bowls, every item was created with a focus on detail, quality, and design. My vision was clear: dog accessories shouldn’t just be functional – they should also serve as a stylish addition to one’s home interior. Drawing from my own personal experience, the idea emerged to open a grooming salon – a place where a dog’s needs come first, where ample time is dedicated to every animal, and where high-quality care goes hand in hand with a warm, loving approach. That is how Groomyy Antwerp took shape: a dream in which my love as a “dog mom” was translated into a professional environment, with a focus on detail, comfort, and personal service.More than a haircut
Anyone who enters Groomyy Antwerp will discover that dog care is considered a total experience. The salon offers various treatments, tailored to the breed, coat type and individual needs of each dog. From washing, brushing and clipping to more extensive coat care and luxurious spa treatments: the team focuses on care that benefits both the appearance and comfort of the dog. Attention is paid to a healthy coat, well-groomed skin and the prevention of tangles and discomfort. No two dogs are the same. Some dogs feel right at home, while others need a little more time and reassurance. That is why a personal approach is central. The character of the dog, its experiences and its specific needs determine how a treatment proceeds. That attention makes the difference. The goal is not only for a dog to look its best when it leaves the salon, but also for it to feel as comfortable as possible during its visit.
Peace, trust and craftsmanship
For me and my team, good care starts with building trust. After all, a visit to the groomer can be exciting for some dogs. A quiet environment, a gentle approach and sufficient attention help to make that experience more pleasant. At Groomyy Antwerp, professionalism and love for animals are not seen as separate concepts. They complement each other. A beautiful cut requires technical knowledge and an eye for detail, but successful treatment also requires insight into the animal’s behavior and needs. That philosophy is reflected in the way the team handles the dogs. The wishes of the owners are listened to, the character of their pet is taken into account and care is sought that suits the individual dog. The environment also contributes to that feeling. The salon combines a warm welcome with a luxurious appearance. Even for the owners, the visit becomes a pleasant experience, with attention to comfort and hospitality.
Entrepreneurship Driven by Passion
Starting a business based on a personal need requires courage, as well as a clear vision. This origin remains central to the identity of Groomyy Antwerp. The level of care I once sought for my own dog now serves as the foundation for the care that my team and I provide to other dogs. At the same time, running a grooming salon demands more than just enthusiasm. Working with animals on a daily basis requires patience, a strong sense of responsibility, and an eye for detail. It is a blend of practical craftsmanship and a genuine commitment to the well-being of every animal. Groomyy Antwerp aims to stand out by looking beyond mere aesthetic results. While a well-groomed dog is certainly important, it is just as vital that the dog feels safe and leaves with a positive experience. For this reason, the salon is more than just a place where coats are washed and trimmed; it is an environment where the entire experience is carefully considered – from the initial interaction with the owner to the moment the dog is picked up again.
In a world that often moves at a frantic pace, Groomyy Antwerp consciously chooses an approach that allows ample room for care and personal attention. This choice reflects the core conviction with which I launched my business: dogs deserve not only professional treatment but also understanding, patience, and love.
A Dream That Continues to Grow
What once began as a dream is now evolving into something greater. The many positive responses and the growing demand for our concept—even from people living well beyond the immediate Antwerp area—confirm that there is a need for a fresh perspective on dog grooming. It is truly special to see how many people resonate with our vision and intentionally choose the experience we strive to offer at Groomyy. And while I am incredibly proud of what we have built so far, my ambitions reach further. My dream is to eventually expand Groomyy to several cities across Belgium and the Netherlands—not simply to grow larger, but to introduce more dogs and their owners to the world of Groomyy. In doing so, I never want to lose sight of what makes us so special: our consistently high-quality standards, genuine care, personal approach, and attention to every single detail. No matter which location you walk into, the Groomyy experience should always evoke that same familiar, exclusive feeling.
It is a dream – one I intend to realize with patience, dedication, and a great deal of love. Because, for me, entrepreneurship is not just about growth; it is, above all, about staying true to your vision and creating something that truly adds value.
Mom Life, Fashion, Food & Real Life
Rani
Hi, I’m Rani, a creative and ambitious entrepreneur from Belgium, and the person behind @raniivdb. I share my life just as it is, from fashion, beauty and food to motherhood, entrepreneurship, love, loss and all the little moments in between. My Instagram has never been about creating a perfect picture of life. It’s my little corner of the internet where I can be myself, share what I love and take my community along for the journey, with a big heart and, admittedly, a pretty chaotic mind.
What started as a personal space to share my interests and everyday life has grown into a wonderful and engaged community of more than 53,000 followers. Today, my content reaches over one million people every month. But for me, numbers have never been the most important part. It’s the people behind those numbers, the connections I make and the conversations we have that mean the most to me.
I believe in sharing the real side of life. Not just the beautiful photos, exciting moments and happy memories, but also the days when things feel a little harder. I want my followers to see the person behind the content. The outfits, recipes and collaborations are only one part of my story. I also share the things that truly matter to me, and that honesty has created a community where people feel comfortable opening up to me too.
One of the most personal parts of my journey has been losing my mum. Since she passed away, I’ve been learning how to carry grief while life continues around me. I share parts of my grieving process because I know I’m not the only one trying to find a way through it. Sometimes, I find myself wishing I could pick up the phone and ask my mum something, just like I always did. Questions about life, being a woman, becoming a mum… things I would have naturally turned to her for.
And now, I’m entering one of the biggest and most emotional chapters of my own life: I’m becoming a mum myself. As I prepare to welcome my little boy, I’m experiencing a mixture of emotions that are sometimes difficult to put into words. I feel an incredible amount of happiness and excitement, while at the same time deeply missing the woman I wish I could share this experience with. Becoming a mother without having my own mum by my side makes this chapter even more meaningful and bittersweet.
Alongside creating content, I’m also an entrepreneur. I built my own brand and business, Sensus Lotus, the magical powders, from the ground up, combining my creativity with my passion for entrepreneurship. Behind every post, collaboration or idea is a lot of work, from creating and planning to building relationships and running a business, all while trying to stay true to who I am.
What makes my story special to me is that life doesn’t fit into one single box. I’ve learned that you can feel heartbroken and incredibly happy at the same time. You can deeply miss someone while looking forward to a completely new life. You can have doubts and still chase your dreams.
That is probably the biggest message I hope to share through my platform: you don’t have to be perfect to inspire someone.

The Way Back
Kiro Matcha
A year ago, I didn’t even know what matcha was. Life changed after the birth of my daughter, an emergency C-section left me with a body that no longer felt like my own. I’d always been slim, but suddenly bloating and fatigue became daily struggles. In search of balance, I tried a green powder I found online. Only later did I discover its key ingredient: matcha. That small detail sparked a journey of discovery. I immersed myself in research, learned about the health benefits of ceremonial-grade matcha, and soon realized that not all matcha is created equal.
Driven by perfectionism – and perhaps a touch of obsession – I tested countless brands. Many were blended, diluted, or sweetened. None lived up to what matcha could truly be. That’s when the idea was born: if the perfect matcha didn’t exist, I would create it. This is how Kiro Matcha came to life. Pure, organic, with no additives and no sugar. Our EU BIO certification guarantees traceability and authenticity, so every sip reflects the highest standards. Kiro (帰路) means “the way back” in Japanese – a return to purity, to origins, to what is essential. More than a drink, it’s a ritual, an invitation to slow down and reconnect with yourself.
No loud campaigns, no gimmicks—just quiet luxury in a cup, trusted by those who know the difference. Perfection takes time. And now, it’s finally ready. Join our VIP list and be the first to experience matcha the way it was meant to be.
