COVER MOM INTERVIEW

Sarrah Zarti: "The hottest trendsetter and stylist of Gent"

01. Sarrah, could you please introduce yourself to our readers at Glam Mom Magazine?

Thank you for having me! I’m Sarrah, a 36-year-old- stylist, influencer, and most importantly, a proud mom to my beautiful daughter and son. I’ve always had a passion for fashion and creativity, and through my work at Carrément, on social media and styling projects, I aim to inspire others to express themselves authentically.

02. How would you describe the experience of motherhood? What emotions has this journey brought to your life?

Motherhood is like an emotional rollercoaster except you can’t get off. It’s brought me everything from heart bursting love to moments where I’ve Googled “how to unstick bubblegum from hair”. It’s chaotic, messy and absolutely the best thing that’s ever happened to me.

03. You’ve become a well-known stylist and influencer, inspiring many with your sense of style and creativity. Who has been the most influential figure in your career?

My mom, hands down. She’s a classic beauty and she had this effortless style and could pull off anything! Probably because she had five kids and no time to overthink. Professionally, I’d say Stella McCartney, which we sell at Carrément by the way! I mean, sustainable fashion plus she’s a Beatles kid? Iconic.

04. Your style and influence are admired by many. Do you think your daughter will follow your footsteps?

It’s hard to say, but she’s already showing signs of creativity and a very strong personality. She loves playing dress-up and even gives me her opinions on outfits! Whether or not she chooses to follow my path, I’ll support her in pursuing whatever makes her happy and she’ll definitely outdress me!

05. Has becoming a mother shifted your perspective on life and the way you approach your work in fashion and social media?

Absolutely. Before I was all about the latest trends. Now, I’m asking the hard questions, like, “Can I wear this properly and still crawl under the table to rescue a toy? Also, I want to use my platform to empower other moms, encourage body positivity, and promote mindful fashion choices. It’s no longer just about me; it’s about the legacy I’m creating for my children and my followers.

06. How do you manage your life as a single mother while balancing the demands of your career?

It’s definitely a balancing act! Planning and prioritization are key. I truly have the best support system of family and friends who help when things get overwhelming. I’ve also learned to no longer strive for perfection… which is really challenging at times being a control freak! Now, it’s about doing my best and being present for my kids while pursuing my career goals.

07. We’d love to hear about what’s next for you. Are there any exciting new projects on the horizon?

There are so many exciting things in the pipeline! Planning to collaborate with some really cool brands and influencers to create content that’s real and relatable. Stay tuned!

What is your greatest fear in life?

My greatest fear is not being able to provide the best possible life for my children. They are my everything and I want them to grow up feeling loved, supported and confident enough to take on the world and chase their dreams.

09. Could you share some memories of your childhood and where you grew up? How did those early experiences shape you?

I grew up in a really small town where everyone knew everyone and Wi-Fi was nonexistent! My childhood was filled with creativity. My mom and dad owned a fabric store so of course I used to make my own clothes and sketch outfits. I always dreamed of becoming a fashion designer! I’m convinced that those early experiences sparked my passion for fashion. My parents taught me the value of hard work and determination.

10. Finally, tell us a bit about your experience shooting with the Glam Mom Magazine team.

The Glam Mom Magazine shoot was honestly so much fun! Shooting with Zenna and having my daughter there made it extra special. It was such a great mix of fashion, glam, and just really lovely people. We had a blast!

SENSUM GENT

At SENSUM, we want every visit to taste like more. Deborah and chef Maurice welcome you in a stylish and beautifully renovated castle on the outskirts of Ghent. They will let you enjoy unique moments. They want to take you on their own journey, and celebrate life with you.

Awarded Sommelier of the Year

Deborah Hellburg

Deborah Hellburg, 42, is a proud mother, wife, entrepreneur, and creative spirit with roots as rich and diverse as her journey. Born and raised in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, Deborah carries a vibrant cultural heritage – of Antillean descent, with Caribbean family ties to Aruba and Curaçao, as well as influences of German and South American roots.

Her path has been anything but ordinary. Once a model herself, she now watches with pride as her 14-year-old daughter, Jolie, follows in her footsteps as a child model with over 13 years of experience. Deborah has shared her life and dreams for the past 18 years with her husband Maurice, a talented chef with whom she co-owns the acclaimed restaurant Sensum in Ghent, Belgium.

Their culinary journey began The Haque and in Zeeland and continued in Knokke, where they successfully ran two restaurants. Eventually, a unique opportunity led them to relocate their beloved restaurant to the beautiful and historic Kasteel Hanet on the AZ Maria Middelares site in Ghent. Three years ago, their hard work and dedication were rewarded with their first Michelin star – an incredible milestone that reflects their shared passion for gastronomy.

Life has presented many storms, but together, Deborah and Maurice have weathered them all, transforming challenges into growth. Through love, resilience, and a deep commitment to excellence, Deborah continues to inspire – not only as a restaurateur but as a woman grounded in her heritage, driven by ambition, and guided by heart.

Deborah’s professional journey began not in a kitchen or dining room, but in the world of marketing and communication, where she completed her studies with success. However, it was during a student job in hospitality that she was captivated by the energy and soul of the culinary world. Her hunger for more led her to the prestigious Michelin-starred restaurant Le Cirque in Scheveningen – where, serendipitously, her love story with Maurice also began.

Over the years, Deborah honed her skills in renowned Michelin-starred establishments such as Bartholomeus in Heist, Oud Sluis in Sluis, and Pure C in Cadzand. What began as a love for hosting blossomed into a deep passion for wine. Despite having no formal training in hospitality or wine, she developed a refined talent for wine and food pairings – an expertise that has become her signature. Her dedication was recognized last year when she was awarded Sommelier of the Year by the respected reviewers of Foodtaster.

Looking ahead, Deborah hopes to share her knowledge and experience by mentoring those who are passionate about the rich world of gastronomy. She dreams of helping to elevate the perception of the hospitality industry and inspire the next generation of professionals. With Sensum, she aims to continue growing – not only as a gastronomic destination but also as a vibrant space for exceptional events.

For her family she is determined to create more quality time, to enjoy the beauties of life with her husband Maurice and to guide and watch Jolie also grow into a successful and bright human being. Helping her explore all her talents and desire.

For Deborah, the journey is far from over. It’s only just begun.

A Story of Two Sisters, One Heartbeat

Anna & Kéyoh Ohanian

From the moment they arrived in a new country, far from their Armenian roots, Anna and Kéyoh Ohanian knew one thing for certain: they had each other. In unfamiliar streets, with a new language and new faces, their bond became their compass a deep, unshakable connection built on love, trust, and shared dreams. Today, Anna and Kéyoh are more than just sisters they are a powerful creative force, inseparable in spirit and vision. Together, they pour their hearts into every project, each venture stitched with intention, meaning, and a desire to uplift others.

One of their most cherished projects is Glam Mom Magazine  not just a magazine, but a movement. A warm, welcoming space created to bring mothers and women together, offering community, support, and a reminder that they are never alone. It’s a feel-good platform, where every woman every soul can find a safe place to speak, share, and be seen.

With deep empathy and artistic flair, the sisters also organize transformative photoshoots for mothers  magical days where women rediscover their confidence, step into their beauty, and feel glamorous and celebrated, just as they deserve.

Though different in many ways, their strengths beautifully complement one another. Anna, the older sister, is a refined architect and designer with a vision for elegance and structure. Kéyoh, the younger, is a soul-stirring artist, singer, and songwriter, always creating from the heart. Together, they fill in each other’s gaps balancing practicality with passion, grace with fire.

Their mission is simple yet profound: to make the world a softer, kinder place by connecting with like-minded souls  those with open hearts and good intentions. Every step they take is guided by purpose, and every project they touch carries their warmth.

And now, life has come full circle. The two sisters, who once arrived in Belgium as young girls, have become the proud ambassadors of the city they love the most, Ghent. The place where they grew up, found their voice, and built their dreams has now officially embraced them as representatives of its vibrant heart and spirit.

Now you know the story behind the magic the two radiant sisters behind Glam Mom Magazine. A sisterhood that began at birth, deepened through migration, and now blooms through creativity, compassion, and an unbreakable bond.

Best regards

A Vintage Wonderland in the Heart of Ghent

The Fallen Angels

Tucked away near the iconic Gravensteen castle, The Fallen Angels is not just one, but two charming vintage and curiosity shops at Jan Breydelstraat 29 and 31 in the heart of Ghent. For decades, these stores have enchanted visitors with a nostalgic collection of old toys, vintage postcards, antique advertising signs, film posters, and all sorts of delightful collectibles.

Step inside, and you’ll find yourself in a cozy, colorful space that feels more like a quirky, retro living room than a typical shop. The interior is a joyful collage of bygone eras – kitschy, warm, and wonderfully eccentric.

The original store was opened by Isabelle Steel in 1980, and in 1999, her daughter Ganesha Vancoillie, the current creative force behind the shops, joined the family business. Together, mother and daughter have not only curated unique finds but also created their own line of postcards and posters over the past 20 years. Their shop now features popular collectible brands like Jellycat, Sonny Angels, Monchhichi, and Maileg, among many others.

Whether you’re a passionate collector or just someone who appreciates the charm of the past, The Fallen Angels is a must-visit destination, a delightful journey into nostalgia and imagination.

More Than a Shop: The Spirit of Ganesha

At the heart of The Fallen Angels is Ganesha Vancoillie, a well-known entrepreneur and beloved community figure in Ghent. Known by her customers as “Misses G” or “Sunshine”, Ganesha radiates warmth, positivity, and an infectious zest for life.

Her influence goes far beyond retail. Ganesha is the founder of Buy Eat Drink Local (#ondernemeningentiswijs), a vibrant platform supporting over 2,100 local businesses in Ghent. She is the go-to person for advice, real estate tips, and connecting entrepreneurs with the city and each other. Her tireless support and networking efforts have made her a cornerstone of Ghent’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.

A deeply intuitive and holistic soul, Ganesha embraces practices like meditation, chanting, reiki, and the use of gemstones to stay grounded and maintain her vibrant energy. As a highly sensitive person (HSP), empath, and ADHD’er, she openly shares her personal journey of self-discovery and healing, turning what some may see as “labels” into empowering insights.

Her shop isn’t just a business, it’s a sanctuary. A place where people come not only to shop, but to talk, laugh, reconnect, and sometimes even cry. She’s part shopkeeper, part unofficial coach, always ready with a listening ear or a bit of wisdom.

Family, Creativity & Community

Family is the foundation of Ganesha’s world. She’s been with her partner Andy for over 30 years, and together they have two sons, Liam and Noa. Her sister, Devi-Shri, shares the same entrepreneurial spirit and runs the nearby boutique Be-Angeled.

For many, visiting The Fallen Angels is more than a shopping experience, it’s stepping into a world filled with love, humor, creativity, and authentic human connection. In a world that often rushes by too quickly, Ganesha and her shops offer something rare and precious: a place to slow down, smile, and remember.

Forever Connected: The Hidden Bond Between Mother and Child

By Glam Mom Magazine

Did you know that your baby never truly leaves your body – even long after you’ve given birth? It might sound like the beginning of a poetic metaphor, but it’s actually a fascinating scientific reality. Your child’s cells – actual fragments of their DNA – can remain in your bloodstream for years, and in some cases, reside in your brain for a lifetime. This remarkable biological phenomenon is called Fetal Maternal Chimerism, and it’s a powerful reminder of the eternal bond between mother and child.

What Is Fetal Maternal Chimerism?

During pregnancy, a beautiful biological exchange takes place. While your baby is growing and developing in your womb, a small number of their cells cross the placenta and enter your body. But here’s the astonishing part: these fetal cells don’t simply vanish after birth. Instead, they find a home in your bloodstream, and some travel to your organs – including your heart, liver, and yes, even your brain – where they can stay for years, even decades.

This means that a piece of your child – literal, living cells – becomes a permanent part of you.

A Mother’s Body: The Ultimate Safe Haven

Scientists are still studying the full impact of this microchimeric phenomenon, but early research suggests these cells may even play protective roles. In some cases, fetal cells have been found at sites of injury or inflammation in mothers, leading researchers to wonder if they might contribute to healing processes. Your child, it seems, might still be nurturing you from within, long after you’ve spent months growing and nourishing them.

A Deeper Meaning of Motherhood

We often speak of the unbreakable connection between mother and child – the intuition, the fierce protectiveness, the way a mother just knows. Science now suggests that this deep, soul-level connection is not just emotional or spiritual – it’s also physical. Embedded in your very being are the echoes of the child you carried. These shared cells are a biological love letter, quietly pulsing in your blood, whispering in your brain: You are not alone. We are part of each other.

More Than Just a Fact – A Celebration

At Glam Mom Magazine, we celebrate every stage of motherhood – from chic maternity wear to postpartum strength, from toddler chaos to teenage growing pains. But today, we celebrate this profound scientific truth: that motherhood leaves an indelible mark not just on your heart, but in your very cells. Mother and child are connected in the deepest of ways, forever and always. You carried your baby in your womb for nine months, but now – thanks to Fetal Maternal Chimerism – they carry on inside you for a lifetime.

Somewhere between sandwiches, deadlines and chaos - where are you?

By Mouna from Mio Corpo

Hey again! It’s me, Mouna – founder of Mio Corpo, and also a professional at juggling a busy life while trying to take better care of myself. Let’s be honest: losing weight, eating healthier, a bit of self-care, it all sounds great in theory. Until you’re making three sandwiches for your kids in the morning and forget about your own breakfast. Again.

You try to be more “consistent” in between work, school runs, endless WhatsApp groups and birthday parties with cake. But let’s keep it real: it doesn’t always work out. And you know what? That’s totally okay. At Mio Corpo, I hear it every single day: “I want to do better, but I just can’t keep it up”. And trust me, that’s rarely about willpower. It’s usually about not having enough time, energy, or – most of all – knowledge. Because if you don’t really know what works or what your body needs, it feels like you’re constantly starting over.

And “dieting”? Ugh. Even the word makes your brain roll its eyes. Diets are usually extreme, short-term, and let’s be honest: not fun at all. That’s why I created my free e-book ‘Smart Eating’ – a no-nonsense guide that helps you understand what actually works. No banned food lists. No weird rules. Just the basics of a healthy lifestyle, explained clearly. Because living healthier doesn’t have to be hard – you just need to understand the how.
