COVER MOM INTERVIEW
Isabel Gómez: "Starting my own Business was a Leap of Faith."
01. Dear Isabel Gómez, please introduce yourself to our Glam Mom Magazine readers.
Hello, I’m Isabel Gómez Tinoco, an interior architect and the founder of Isabel Gómez Studio, where we specialize in creating spaces that blend modern sophistication with rich, emotional depth. My work is rooted in the concept of Emotional Luxury®, which ensures every design resonates with its inhabitants, offering not just a visually beautiful space but an emotionally fulfilling one. Through my journey, I’ve come to understand that the environment we live in deeply impacts our well-being, which is why I’m dedicated to designing spaces that elevate both comfort and luxury. I’ve lived in Brussels for over 25 years and consider this vibrant city my home.

02. Your career started in the aviation industry. What did that experience teach you about the world and yourself?
Working in the aviation industry for 15 years taught me a great deal about the world’s diversity, adaptability, and the importance of connection. I was constantly traveling, meeting new people from different cultures, and learning how environments and spaces influence our behavior and emotions. It opened my eyes to the incredible impact design can have on people’s lives. It also taught me about resilience, flexibility, and how to remain calm under pressure—skills I now apply in my design work and business management.
03. Losing your job after 15 years in aviation was a pivotal moment. How did you turn that setback into an opportunity?
Losing my job was a challenging moment, but it was also a turning point. I took a sabbatical year to explore different fields, and during that time, I discovered my true passion: interior design. It was an opportunity to reassess my life and career, and it gave me the space to pursue something I’d always been drawn to but never fully realized. This setback pushed me to transform my life and build a new career that was not just about work, but about creating meaningful, emotional connections with the spaces I designed.
04. What drew you to interior design and real estate after exploring different interests?
What truly captivated me about interior design was the profound effect that spaces have on how we feel and live. During my year of exploration, I came across Feng Shui, which revealed to me how the design of a space can influence our well-being. This insight sparked a deep passion for architecture and design, and I quickly realized that it wasn’t just about aesthetics but about creating spaces that foster happiness, peace, and emotional connection. It was the perfect blend of creativity, strategy, and emotional intelligence.

05. Can you explain the concept of “Emotional Luxury” and how it influences your design philosophy?
“Emotional Luxury” is a concept I’ve developed to focus on a type of luxury that goes beyond just the visual or tangible aspects. It’s about creating a space that deeply resonates with the people who inhabit it, offering a sensory experience that evokes feelings of comfort, joy, and authenticity. It’s luxury that’s felt, not just seen. This philosophy guides every project I take on, ensuring that the design isn’t just beautiful but profoundly meaningful, personal, and uplifting.
06. What challenges did you face while starting your own business, and how did you build it into a successful studio with a team of 10?
Starting my own business was a leap of faith. The challenges were numerous, from managing the financial aspects of starting a studio to building a strong client base. But the biggest challenge was creating a culture of trust, creativity, and commitment with my team. I wanted to ensure that every project, big or small, was handled with utmost care and precision. By hiring talented individuals who shared my values and passion for design, we’ve been able to deliver exceptional results, creating a team dynamic that is more like a family. It’s this collective drive that has allowed us to grow into the successful studio we are today.
07. What advice would you give to someone looking to transition into entrepreneurship later in their career?
My advice is to embrace the process of reinvention. Don’t be afraid of starting over or pursuing something new—especially later in your career. Leverage your past experiences, as they’ve shaped your skill set and perspective. Take the time to truly understand your passions and what drives you. Building a business takes time and patience, but if you follow your heart and stay focused, the rewards are well worth it.
08. How did becoming a single mother while rebuilding your career shape your outlook on life?
Becoming a single mother while rebuilding my career taught me about resilience, time management, and the importance of prioritizing what truly matters. I learned to be resourceful, to rely on my instincts, and to never lose sight of my goals, no matter how difficult life might seem. It reinforced the value of creating a life and career that offer balance—one that supports both personal happiness and professional success.

09. What lessons from motherhood have helped you as an entrepreneur?
Motherhood has taught me the importance of patience, flexibility, and empathy—traits that have been invaluable in my entrepreneurial journey. It has shown me how to juggle multiple responsibilities while maintaining a sense of calm and focus. I’ve also learned the power of clear communication, delegation, and the importance of building a supportive network, both personally and professionally. One of my sons is part of my current team, and that brings me so much joy.
10. How was your experience with our “Glam Mom Magazine team”?
Working with the “Glam Mom Magazine” team was an incredible experience. Their professionalism and creative approach made the entire process both smooth and enjoyable. I truly felt like a queen that day. I believe every woman deserves to have such an experience—one where she feels celebrated and enjoys a day with a team entirely dedicated to her. I am deeply grateful for this unforgettable experience.

Motherhood, Passion, and Creativity
Petra Van Hijfte
Becoming a mom at a young age felt very natural to me. At 25, I just knew: I’m ready for this. The beauty of being a young mom is that now – so many years later – I’m still completely in tune with what’s happening in my son’s world. That has only strengthened our bond.
We have a very close relationship. We can talk about anything, and I find that so valuable. He knows he can always come to me, and vice versa. Now that he’s almost 18, I see him growing into a young adult, and I’m so proud of the person he’s becoming.

Besides my main job in marketing, I have also been self-employed. Even before the days of Instagram and TikTok, I started my own blog in 2010, Sprinkles on a Cupcake, a place where I share my passions and inspirations. I have witnessed the rise and evolution of social media up close and have grown along with it, which has allowed me to work as an influencer/content creator (you can find me online as PetraCupcake). My blog & social media has always remained my creative outlet, a space where I can truly express myself. Sometimes, you just need more than a quick caption or a short video. I continue to believe in the power of storytelling, both on my blog and on social media. In recent years, I have focused more on videos and other forms of digital storytelling because I want to keep inspiring and go with the flow of change.

For me, being a glam mom isn’t just about how you look—it’s about how you feel. Confidence, joy in life, and being able to express yourself—that’s what truly matters to me. Of course, I love adding color and a touch of glamour to my life, whether it’s through makeup, fashion, or my personal style. But in the end, it’s all about feeling good in your own skin and radiating that energy.
Next to that, it’s all about balance, and that balance doesn’t look the same every day. Juggling my job, blog, and family life can be a puzzle at times, but because I do everything with passion, it always feels exciting. It’s about setting priorities and staying flexible. I plan my work and passion projects around the important moments with my family. Now that my son is older, he is more independent, but I stay involved, and we all find it important to spend time together as a family. Traveling is a perfect example of that—it’s not just about relaxation but also a way for us to grow together and create lasting memories.
For me, It’s always a balance of everything. My job, my blog, and my family fuel each other. They make me who I am. And when something gives me energy, I radiate that as a mother. For me, it’s always about connection: I draw so much inspiration from others, and I hope I can give that back. If there’s one thing that defines me as a person and as a mom, it’s my enthusiasm for celebrating and sharing life, and always with a pop of color!
Psychologist, Adventurer & Empowered Mom
Yasko Secelle
Hi Glam Moms,
I’m Yasko Secelle (37), wife to Benny (37) and loving mom of Idris (almost 6). Born and raised in the beautiful city of Ghent, I’ve been living in Oosterzele since 2017. In 2012, I earned my master’s degree in clinical psychology, and since 2013, I’ve been working as a school psychologist at a Center for Pupil Guidance (CLB). Every day, I support children and adolescents while working closely with parents, teachers, and other caregivers.

A Passion for Helping Others
As a school psychologist, I often see children growing up in difficult circumstances. These stories touch me deeply – both as a professional and as a mom. They remind me how fortunate I am to provide Idris with a safe, stable home – something that seems so natural but isn’t a given for many children. That’s why I try to teach Idris gratitude: to appreciate what we have and never take it for granted.
Love & Family
This month, my husband and I celebrate 20 years together. We met in 2005 as high school sweethearts, and for two decades, we’ve walked side by side, cheering each other on every step of the way. We made a conscious decision to have one child, valuing the ability to give Idris our full attention while also making time for ourselves and our relationship. Time is a luxury in today’s fast-paced world, and we cherish it. Being an only child myself – just like my mom and grandfather – I know what it’s like to grow up without siblings. While I sometimes longed for one, over time, I found my “sisters from another mister” in my close friends. To me, friendships are just as precious as family bonds.
Me-Time & Adventure
My weekly yoga class is my sacred moment to slow down and recharge. It’s the one time I focus only on myself, clearing my mind and making space for fresh ideas. I also have a deep love for adventurous travel. Before Idris came along, I backpacked through Canada, New Zealand, Thailand, Cambodia… Now, we dream of resuming our travels when he’s a bit older -because what’s more meaningful than discovering the world together?
Parenting with Purpose
More than anything, I want Idris to grow into a confident, compassionate young man who respects and empathizes with others. In a world where fear of the unknown is increasing, it’s vital that children feel free to be who they truly are. As Idris steps into his future, I’ll be there – his unwavering support, his safe haven, his home.

Redefining Feminine Wellness: The Fusion of Function and Aesthetics in Modern Gynecology
Dr. Marijke Aerts
Marijke Aerts is a functional-aesthetic gynecologist, but what does that mean?
I am a gynecologist by training in traditional medicine, where my passion for femininity began. From puberty, becoming a woman, and pregnancy, to giving birth and getting back in shape afterwards. Menopause is about aging as well as possible, healthily and beautifully, so that the circle is complete.
My passion has grown to incorporate techniques from aesthetic medicine to ensure intimate health functions well and is approached aesthetically. This includes addressing complaints such as vaginal dryness, urinary leakage, painful relations, and skin diseases. I also perform mommy makeovers using specific devices for pelvic floor training and vaginal tightening. Additionally, I address all aesthetic desires ‘down-under,’ from bleaching to labiaplasty or reduction of the labia and clitoral hood.
In short, BEING A WOMAN IS MORE, FEELING GOOD ISN’T TABOO!
Balancing Motherhood and a Thriving Career in Film
Sabrina Culver
My name is Sabrina Culver, and I suspect I may be slightly older than most of your mothers, which makes it an even greater honor to be included in your magazine. As any mother will say, no matter how old your children get (mine are now 16 and 18), they will always feel like your babies.
Nine years ago, I moved from the U.S. to Belgium and the Netherlands while my children were still in elementary school. I am an actress and film producer, with years of experience working in film and television in New York City and Los Angeles. Becoming a mother turned my world upside down in the best possible way—it has been the most rewarding experience of my life. My children mean everything to me; they keep me young, bring me immeasurable joy, and inspire me to be the best version of myself. Watching their successes and supporting them through challenges has helped me grow, both as a parent and as a person.

I was born in Cleveland, Ohio, to a Scottish mother and a Dutch-American father. From a young age, I discovered a deep love for the performing arts—piano, musical theater, and acting. I traveled to New York City for auditions and worked in commercials, plays, and films. While attending Emerson College in Boston, I was chosen as a finalist in Wella Balsam’s We’re Looking for Faces campaign, which led to a coveted role in the film Broken Dreams, where I portrayed a young Marilyn Monroe.
Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of playing many roles, but ultimately, I made the decision to prioritize my children. Leaving Los Angeles to focus on my family was the best choice I could have made. Still, I continue to work as an actress, recently starring in a television series alongside Estella Warren and William McNamara, filmed in Sicily. I also actively participate in film festivals as a judge and presenter in locations such as Morocco, Oman, Indonesia, and Tunisia. I’m fortunate to have a strong family support system that allows me to travel and pursue my passion while still being a full-time parent.
People often ask how I balance motherhood with my career. As a mother of two intelligent and thriving teenagers, I’ve learned that prioritization and time management are essential. I make a conscious effort to be present for my children, understanding that quality time together is just as—if not more—important than any professional success. Whether it’s setting schedules, enjoying family dinners, planning weekend outings, or simply listening to music together, we ensure our time is meaningful.
My children are a huge source of inspiration to me. Their unique perspectives and ideas spark my creativity, and their experiences as teenagers deeply resonate with me. I find myself drawn to stories that reflect their world—narratives I might not have explored as meaningfully before becoming a mother.
To other mothers juggling careers and parenthood, my advice is to embrace the chaos and be kind to yourself. Perfection is not the goal—balance will shift from day to day, and that’s okay. Focus on what truly matters, maintain open communication with your children, and never hesitate to ask for help. Having a strong support system, whether through family, friends, or fellow parents, can make all the difference. We have all been there.
I deeply appreciate what your publication is doing for mothers and women in general. It’s so important that we uplift one another and acknowledge that motherhood and a fulfilling career are not mutually exclusive. We don’t have to choose—we can have it all.
With love,
Sabrina Culver
