COVER MOM INTERVIEW

Anouk Matton: "I feel truly humbled to see my face on New York Times Square."

01. Dear Anouk, please introduce yourself to our Glam Mom Magazine readers.

Hello, I am Anouk Matton I am a dj/singer who travels the world. I also have my own makeup brand AM Cosmetics. I am mother of the cutest baby boy London and married to the love of my life, Dimitri.

02. You are playing as a female DJ at the world’s biggest festivals. Tomorrowland is one of the biggest. How do you combine motherhood with your fantastic work?

Navigating the globe as a DJ and a mother, I try to create experiences for my family and showing the world to London in the most fun way. I don’t always bring him on work trips but when I do I feel so much more in my element. Becoming a mother has only become an even bigger motivation to do well in life and be an example for my son.

03. We also know that you are a singer. Any new song that is going to be released and we can be the first to know the title?

I am currently working on a lot of new music. The release schedule is not always very clear so I am not sure which one will be the first one to drop. But my personal favorite is my new song called ‘Fade out’ – it’s a song I wrote and sang myself.

04. Let’s not forget your make up line. Tell us more about it. Where can we find it, buy it, and look fabulous?

My make up brand AM Cosmetics is being sold online at our web shop, but also in a lot of retailers such as Ici Paris XL, April Beauty and Brussels Airport. We use crystals in our makeup products, so the make-up has that extra kind of touch of special energy.

05. Who or what is your biggest inspiration and why?

I have always looked up to Oprah Winfrey. I think she is a woman who made a remarkable journey from adversity to success. She has an unparalleled ability to connect with people from all walks of life. She is so dedicated to empowering others through her platforms and her efforts at creating a positive change in the world.

06. How is your relationship with your son? Is he more attached to Mommy or Daddy?

We both have a very good relationship with our son. He has his days where he is more into mommy and other days more into daddy, so I think the balance is pretty good. We try to be very present around him and to be very playful and goofy. It is fun to see the world once again through his eyes and to become aware of how beautiful it actually is.

07. You were the artist of the month on Spotify and projected on the New York Times Square. What were your emotions and who did you tell first?

This was a dream!!! I immediately called my mom who was obviously also very happy for me. My parents have always been my number one fans since day one. I felt truly humbled to see my face on New York Times Square. It felt a bit surreal and had to pinch myself. Very very very very happy!

08. Do you recognize yourself in your mother. Will you use the same parenting methods?

I have been fortunate to have been raised in a very loving and warm family with high values and morals. We always learned to be grateful, respectful and to be humble. I think these are very important things to pass on to your kids. I would be very happy if I can become the same mother for London as my mom is for me.

09. If you would believe in past lives, who do you think you were? What kind of job did you have and what nationality?

I don’t really know, I guess I maybe worked with animals, because I love dogs so much.

10. How was your shooting day experience with the Glam Mom Team?

The shooting day with the Glam Mom Team was absolutely lovely. Although I had very little sleep the night before, I felt really welcome and good at the shoot thanks to everyone being so nice. I absolutely loved my styling, makeup and hair! The photographer was also a very nice person that made me feel comfortable and at ease. So overall, it was a very nice day!

Mother of the Month

Anna Kalandadze: From Acting to Motherhood - A Journey of Love and Purpose

Hello to my fellow amazing glam mommies out there.

First of all, allow me to congratulate glam mom magazine! That’s what hard-working mommas deserve to be in the spotlights, and to be appreciated.  My Name is Anna Kalandadze. I am 33 years old and a mother to my 2,5-year-old Son Nerses. I was born in Tbilisi Georgia and at the age of 7 my parents moved to Belgium. I remember and cherish my childhood memories in Georgia where I used to go to a theatrical movie school and I continued that passion of mine in Belgium as well I started my first tv soaps with the amazing Adil El Arbi & Bilall Fallah (of bad boys for life ) and after that my acting career started successfully where I had the privilege to work with amazing actors and directors and film a few great movies.

Shortly after I moved to Los Angeles where I was selected from a very large group of international actors to attend an intensive master acting program at the best school in the world Stella Adler Academy. the program involved working with leading Hollywood professionals, celebrity photographers and auditioning for 25 of Hollywood’s leading talent agencies and casting directors. That was an achievement I was so proud of especially because I had a call back from agencies and managers that were willing to sign with me. I had to travel back to Belgium end work with my attorneys for my working permit etc. in the meantime I had to travel for a movie premiere to Nepal.

I got my vaccinations pretty last minute with the consequences afterwards. I felt very sick and I took me years to recover. I wasn’t happy or passionate anymore. So, losing that feeling it gave me another perspective to life. I had to move on, so I started my own business in the energy sector which I currently still do. And little did I know that my greatest achievement was still to come, and that was when I gave birth to my son.

This little man changed my life completely. When I think about that and I imagine what was my life before him. It’s all so blurry. I love this new role as a mother and I adore my cool mom‘s club. We encourage each other we lift each other up! Only a mother can understand other mothers. It’s so cool. I want my kid to know that life is a journey, and that each day is a gift to spread love in the world. I used to strive for perfection or some “end goal” but as I’ve grown, I have realized that each moment we have the choice to be happy and grateful. Even in tough times there are amazing Blessings. And I would love my kid to live his life with a “glass half full” perspective, knowing that doing good in the world is what will bring him true fulfillment.

With Love,
Anna

Traveling with Kids

Mouna

Let me just dust off the old box of memories when it comes to traveling with kids. With a 16-year-old son at home, it’s no longer about traveling together but rather navigating the treacherous waters of traveling with friends and the inevitable heated debates surrounding this topic.

Describing traveling with a child is like breaking it down into phases. Here’s my take, because (almost) every kid is different, right?

When they’re very young, between birth and 5 years old, they’re still happy to go everywhere with mom and dad. You’re their universe, and wherever you are, they want to be. Whether it’s lounging on the beach, by a pool, exploring cities, or hiking, they just want to be in your presence. The flip side is that they completely rely on you, and as a parent, you’re at the mercy of their biological clock. But looking back, those were the most pleasant travel memories for me because the countless arguments in the following phases definitely outweigh having to put the little ones to bed on time or changing diapers and toys mid-stop to keep them content.

Then they hit 6 to 12 years old, and you want to show them the beauty of the world and engage in cultural activities because, as you realize with age, these experiences are crucial for their development and memory bank. However, kids don’t always see eye to eye on this. Speaking from my own experience, my son had zero interest in cultural activities or wandering through the charming streets of Venice at that age. His highlights were sitting down for pizza or ice cream, feeding his brain with games or entertainment on the laptop or phone. And every parent knows how persistent and convincing children can be when they want their way. As a parent, you want to keep things pleasant because, hey, it’s your trip too, right? So, instead of bickering over a lost cause, you occasionally give in to maintain peace and sanity.

It’s disappointing as a parent because at this age, they start to understand, and suddenly, you think they might share an interest in what you didn’t care about at their age but now realize the importance of culture, fauna, and flora. What you fail to grasp at the time is that these little beings are in their own small worlds. Our parenting ideals take a backseat, friends become more important than ever, and egos start to develop. In my day, there was no internet, but now these kids are inundated with technology, so why walk in the woods when you can see it on a screen, right?! I remember the countless attempts to persuade him to explore the many cities I wanted to visit with him, both domestically and abroad. It was more of a mental test than a physical experience in my opinion. I don’t know if it’s because he’s a boy, but my son had zero interest in anything when he was that young. So, I kept it simple by opting for all-inclusive hotels because at that age, making friends is paramount, less screen time, and less nerve-racking for the parent. We just have to make choices as parents.

And the age frames keep getting shorter. Between 12 and 15 years old, I recall my son showing interest in traveling. As a mother, I was over the moon because there seemed to be light behind those years of clouds. The glimmer of hope that you can finally fulfill the parent dream of going on adventures with your son is so close. And then he comes up with, “I want to go to Paris.” Isn’t that delightful? Your child wants to go to Paris with you! Bonding with my son, that’s what we parents live for! Your child lets you back into their life after many years. I feel so honored. But what you have to understand is that your child has already planned the entire city trip for you both. It goes something like this: We arrive in Paris. Then we go to this and that skate spot. The next day, we visit this and that skate shop. We eat junk food, preferably as quickly as possible because shopping time is limited on a weekend. And you think to yourself, what an independent child you’ve raised. Those moments are so precious and valuable. Secretly, you realize that you’re essentially just a walking wallet.

Today, I find myself in the phase where he only wants to go on faraway trips with friends. I’ve always given my son the confidence to stay overnight with friends or go on short and nearby city trips with friends, like Amsterdam and Paris when he was 15. I believe it’s important to give my son that trust under certain conditions and constant availability, of course. But now he wants to go to Brazil to visit his friend. That’s uncharted territory for me. The dual feeling between giving trust and the fear of sending him to an unknown and dangerous country is a mixed bag of emotions. I want to trust him, but at the same time, I want to be less than a kilometer away from him in case something happens. It’s moments like these that make it incredibly difficult to make these decisions alone. On one hand, I want him to have this experience so badly. On the other hand, I’ll never forgive myself if something happens and I’m so far away from him to protect him. And rationally, I know these emotions don’t add up. And then I remember my therapist’s words, “approach this challenge with love, not fear.” In my mind, that sounds crystal clear, of course.

Traveling with children has been quite challenging in my experience, but there’s nothing quite like experiencing it all firsthand.

#1 Why You Should Request a Bassinet for Your Child's Sleep

Traveling with children can be a daunting experience, especially on long-distance flights. One way to ensure a smoother journey for both you and your little one is by requesting a bassinet for your child to sleep in during the flight. Bassinets provide a safe and comfortable space for infants to rest, allowing them to sleep more soundly while in the air. Not only does this help prevent crankiness and discomfort during the flight, but it also gives you the opportunity to relax and enjoy your journey knowing your child is comfortable and secure. Alternatively you can purchase an inflatable airplane kids bed like this one.

#2 Don't Forget to Bring Medication When Traveling with Kids

When embarking on a long-distance trip with your children, it’s crucial to pack any necessary medications they may need during the journey. Whether it’s over-the-counter remedies for motion sickness or prescription medications for allergies or other conditions, having these essentials on hand can make all the difference in ensuring a smooth and comfortable travel experience for your little ones. Be sure to pack medications in your carry-on luggage for easy access throughout the journey.

#3 The Benefits of Using Ear Plugs for Airplane Comfort

For mothers planning a long-distance trip with their children, one essential item to consider is Ear Plugs. These specially designed earplugs help regulate air pressure during takeoff and landing, reducing discomfort and pain in children’s ears caused by changes in altitude. By providing your child with Ear Plugs, you can help alleviate any discomfort they may experience during the flight, ensuring a more pleasant and enjoyable travel experience for the whole family.

#4 Stay Hydrated

Traveling long distances with children can be dehydrating, especially in the dry cabin air of an airplane. That’s why it’s essential to prioritize hydration during your journey. Be sure to pack plenty of water and encourage your child to drink regularly throughout the flight. Additionally, consider bringing hydrating snacks like fruits and vegetables to help replenish fluids and keep your child feeling their best throughout the journey.

#5 Travel Snacks & Drinks

When traveling long distances with children, it’s essential to pack plenty of snacks and drinks to keep them fueled and satisfied throughout the journey. Consider packing a variety of healthy snacks like fruits, nuts, and granola bars, as well as some treats to keep things fun. Additionally, be sure to bring plenty of water and other hydrating beverages to keep your child refreshed and hydrated during the flight.

#6 Must-Have Items for Moms: Tablet, Headphones & Carry On Luggage

#7 Keep Them Entertained with Their Favorite Shows

Long flights can be challenging for children, but one way to keep them entertained and occupied is by downloading their favorite shows or movies onto a tablet or electronic device. By having their favorite entertainment on hand, you can help pass the time more quickly and keep your child happy and content during the journey. Just be sure to pack headphones to avoid disturbing other passengers.

#8 Stay Connected with Apple AirTag for Peace of Mind

For mothers traveling with children, peace of mind is essential. That’s where Apple AirTag comes in handy. This innovative tracking device allows you to keep tabs on your child, ensuring they won’t get lost during the journey. #9 Keep Them Excited with a Surprise Mid-Flight

Long flights can be challenging for children, but one way to keep them excited and engaged is by surprising them with a special treat or activity mid-flight. Whether it’s a small toy, a favorite snack, or a fun activity book, a surprise can help break up the monotony of the journey and give your child something to look forward to during the flight.

#10 Tips for Choosing the Right Flight Time

When planning a long-distance trip with children, it’s essential to consider the timing of your flight. Flying at night or in the middle of the day can offer several advantages for parents traveling with kids. Nighttime flights may coincide with your child’s regular bedtime, making it easier for them to sleep through the journey. Alternatively, mid-day flights may offer more flexibility in terms of scheduling activities and meals, allowing you to better manage your child’s needs during the journey. Consider your child’s sleep and activity patterns when choosing the best flight time for your family’s needs.

Balancing Passion, Family, and Success in Her 20s

Carine Safah

Hello, fabulous readers,

I’m Carine Safah, a 29-year-old woman with a passion for fitness, a dedication to family, and a drive for success. Let me take you on a journey through my whirlwind twenties—a time of growth, learning, and endless possibilities.

At 18, while embarking on my university journey, I also found myself engaged. Initially pursuing a business major, I soon discovered my true calling lay in the world of fitness. Despite having no prior experience in this field, my passion burned bright, leading me to switch my major to Physical Education. I dove headfirst into courses related to training, eventually earning Elite & Master fitness trainer degrees from ISSA.

At 21, I entered into marriage, but my thirst for knowledge in the fitness realm remained unquenched. Determined to create the perfect synergy between fitness and nutrition, I delved into the world of nutrition studies. From integrative nutrition health coaching to becoming a sports nutritionist, I absorbed every bit of knowledge, driven by the desire to be a healthy and fit mom.

As I pursued my degrees, life blessed me with the arrival of my first daughter, Mirãy. Her birth only fueled my motivation to grow and inspire others, leading me to share my pregnancy and postpartum journey on social media. Through my platform, I aimed to empower moms to prioritize their health and fitness, proving that with dedication and perseverance, anything is possible.

Four years later, I welcomed my second daughter, Méline, into the world. With each milestone, I continued to balance the demands of motherhood with my passion for fitness and nutrition. And two years ago, a new chapter unfolded as I embarked on a journey to Dubai, drawn by promising opportunities and the chance to further my career.

In Dubai, I embraced the role of a fitness influencer, leveraging my platform to inspire others on their wellness journeys. Recently, I even launched my own brand, “Fit Flurry,” featuring high-protein Greek yogurt—a testament to my dedication to promoting health and fitness.

As I approach my thirties, I reflect on the incredible journey of my twenties—a decade marked by hard work, dedication, and unwavering support from my husband and faith in God. With a clearer vision for the future, I eagerly anticipate the next chapter, filled with new opportunities, challenges, and achievements.

Cheers to turning 30 with a heart full of gratitude and a spirit ready to conquer whatever lies ahead.

With love,
Carine Safah

Perfect 40!

Lana Shabdeen

I’m Lana Shabdeen, a 41-year-old author deeply committed to empowering women through self-help and personal growth. My journey began in Uzbekistan, where at the age of 16, I embarked on a life-changing adventure to California with my family. Since then, life has been a wonderful rollercoaster, filled with travel, diverse jobs, and various business ventures. Throughout it all, I’ve remained dedicated to personal development, constantly seeking new avenues for growth. Balancing a full-time job and part-time studies, I pursued a bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of Channel Islands. This commitment to learning has been a cornerstone of my journey, leading me to unexpected opportunities and insights.

In 2020, amidst life’s complexities, I found solace in writing, initially through detailed journaling and meticulous thought organization. This creative outlet culminated in my first book, “Perfect 40!” – a heartfelt exploration of the emotional and psychological journey of women approaching the milestone age. Inspired by my experiences and conversations with other women, I aimed to fill a void in the literature landscape, offering support and understanding to those navigating similar transitions.

Raising my two daughters, aged 4 and 7, added another layer of challenge to my writing journey. Yet, fueled by passion and determination, I persevered, carving out time amidst the chaos to share my story with the world. The response has been humbling, reinforcing my belief in the power of storytelling to connect and uplift.

As a parent, I embrace the immense responsibility and joy it brings. Striving to give my daughters the best, I aim to provide them with attention and guidance that will shape their lives positively. As I embark on my second book, I’ve also created journals aimed at fostering gratitude and goal achievement in others. Giving back is a core value for me, and I actively contribute to a local non-profit organization as a Board Treasurer, demonstrating to my daughters the importance of generosity and community involvement.

Warm Regards,
Lana Shabdeen

Beyond work, I cherish the simple pleasures of parenting

Ilona Croes

Hello to all the incredible readers,

Let me introduce myself—I’m Ilona Croes, a 37-year-old mom to a vibrant 5.5-year-old son, residing in the picturesque Sint-Martens-Latem. In the bustling rhythm of life, I proudly wear multiple hats—nurse, entrepreneur, and devoted mother. Despite the challenges of single motherhood, I’ve learned to navigate the delicate balance between nurturing my professional ambitions and cherishing precious moments with my son.

In the realm of healthcare, I serve as an independent nurse, tending to the needs of others with compassion and dedication. But my passion extends beyond the confines of the hospital walls—I also run my own beauty salon, where I blend my nursing skills with my love for beauty. It’s a harmonious fusion of two worlds, allowing me to pursue my professional dreams while indulging in my creative passions.

Life may be hectic, but I embrace each day with determination and love. My son, my greatest joy, accompanies me through every twist and turn. During his school hours, you’ll find me immersed in the soothing ambiance of my salon, where I pour my heart and soul into every client interaction.

Beyond work, I cherish the simple pleasures of parenting, cooking hearty meals, expressing myself through drawing, and serenading my son with songs of love. Every moment is a precious gift, and I strive to make the most of each one.

Over the past year, I’ve found my stride, achieving a harmonious blend of work and home life. It hasn’t been an easy journey, particularly since I took a leap of faith into the unknown 2.5 years ago. But that leap, though daunting at the time, turned out to be the best decision I ever made. As an independent woman, I value the freedom to carve my own path, allowing me to flourish in my talents and embrace life’s endless possibilities.
